Welcome to Northern Ireland Reef Club
The NIRC is a non-profit organization of marine hobbyists who share the interest in keeping saltwater fish and reefs. We promote responsible reefkeeping and ecological preservation through education within the club.
We welcome all enthusiasts, from those just interested in the hobby to seasoned veterans. If you are thinking about setting up a saltwater tank or just have experiences to share, this is the place!
The club is very active, with around 458 Members and 121 Active Members, several sponsors, and at least one monthly meeting (formal or informal). Our forums are the primary means of club communications, and non-members are welcomed to participate. If you are new, please check out our New Member forum (introduce yourself!)
Welcome to the Northern Ireland Reef Club and our forums. If you have any questions or comments, please contact us.
Kudos
In June of 2008 Northern Ireland Reef Club achieved official recognition from UltimateReef.com (UR). Our recognition came in the form of our own forum hosted on their bulletin boards.
Provenance
From the depths of UR a couple of guys discovered their whereabouts to be within a stones throw away from each other! With that in mind, meeting up at Local Fish Store's (LFS) was starting to become a regular occurrence. UltimateReef.com provided the opportunity to communicate between each other and new friends to the group. The ears on the ground picked up on the popularity of reef keeping in Northern Ireland was growing fast and, with the guidance of an elected committee, we set up a forum for which has become the platform for Northern Ireland Reef Club to build upon!
Hereafter
The future of the Northern Ireland Reef Club, like many things, is unpredictable. But rest assured, as long as our members remain enthusiastic about reef-keeping NIRC will be around for the enduring distance! Thank you to all who take part.
Good Turn
What can we do for you? NIRC is devoted to its members, the conservation of reef-keeping, sharing good practice and helping those in desperate need (when fighting algae with a stick is no longer an option, haha).
